Pigmy leatherjacket

Biology

This species inhabits seagrass beds, coastal reefs or islands. It has a highly variable colour pattern, ranging from pale yellow to dark green, with lighter or darker lines and numerous spots alongside its body.

Curiosities

Although the Pigmy leatherjacket is not an excellent swimmer, it is a master of camouflage, allowing it to hide from predators. When it feels threatened, it can inflate, increasing the volume of the body. During the breeding season, the body colour may change.
