Sharpsnout seabream

Biology

The sharpsnout seabream inhabits rocky or sandy bottoms of coastal waters and is often found near the surf zone, where it finds food: algae, molluscs and worms. The juveniles, unlike the adults, swim in schools, in pools or lagoons, usually in brackish waters.

Curiosities

This hermaphroditic fish, whose males can convert into females, even as an adult, gets its name from its long head and small nose.
