Tidepool sculpin

Biology

This small fish, that does not grow more than 10 centimetres, has the cream-coloured body covered with dark patches. It lives in the intertidal zone. In areas more exposed to violent waves, it may seek higher, more sheltered places, however it always returns to its home pool.

Curiosities

As a tide pool inhabitant, it may happen that it has to be emerged for a while, but this is not a problem for the tide pool sculpin, which is able to breathe air when out of water.
