White-barred boxfish

Biology

The white-barred boxfish lives in rocky reefs up to 40 metres deep. Males are bright red and have white stripes while females are orange red with light and black stripes. This species feeds on invertebrates such as small crustaceans.

Curiosities

The skeleton of this fish forms an armour of hexagonal bony plates.
