"Forests Underwater by Takashi Amano" is the exhibition of the year

Time Out Lisbon Awards 2015

The Oceanário de Lisboa’s exhibition “Forests Underwater by Takashi Amano” won the prize “Best Exhibition of the Year” at the 4th edition of the Time Out Lisbon Awards.

Eight months after the opening, the temporary exhibition has already received 550,000 visitors. The nature aquarium celebrates the simplicity and (im)perfection of nature, created by the acclaimed Japanese aquascaper, Takashi Amano. It has evolved every day assuming the splendor that the Japanese author idealized during the creative process. It is the perfect fusion between art and nature.

The exhibition has been contemplated by visitors from over 165 nationalities, who shared their experiences in platforms like TripAdvisor: “Wonderful”, “It’s a real masterpiece that transmit us a great tranquillity”, “Amazing” and “Oceanário was the best moment of my visit to Portugal. But the highlight was the Takashi Amano’s exhibition”.

This masterpiece provides visitors with a contemplative experience, transporting them to the origins of life, accompanied by a thirteen-minute ode, created by the musician and composer, Rodrigo Leão.

The Time Out Lisbon Awards 2015 ceremony took place in Mercado da Ribeira, on 15th December and distinguished the most-loved news in town, into several distinct categories – exhibition, events, restaurants, music, cinema, theatre, literature, brand, Lisboner and ideas. The awards are decided by the magazine’s editorial team, which includes more than 30 journalists and critics.
